Critical reception
Gori Tere Pyaar Mein got mainly positive reviews.
- Madhureeta Mukherjee of The Times of India gave the movie while the readers of The Times of India gave the movie .
Madhureeta Mukherjee wrote, "Imran, is most at ease playing Romedy
roles, it shows. He's endearing and likeable as a loverboy. Kareena
looks stunning in her desi avatar and pulls off the chhori-chichhori
with spontaneity and spunk. Shraddha makes a pretty pleasant cameo; and
Anupam Kher entertains with his madcap act. Punit's 'GTPM', is a sweet,
breezy romcom with likeable characters presented in glossy, lavish, true
Karan Johar (producer) style."
- Taran Adarsh of Bollywood Hungama gave the movie , writing "Kareena Kapoor Khan is eye-catching in her appearance and aptitude, both."
- Filmfare gave the movie ,
writing "This movie is just a pleasant no frills family entertainer.
The kind of movie Indian families wouldn't mind spending hard-earned
bucks on. What really sends the ball out of the park is the combined
performance of Imran and Kareena".
- Koimoi gave the movie ,
writing "[It's] a deliciously appealing story that is both relatable
and sparkling for its humor, wit and romantic crises. There are barely
any slack moments in this beaten up and typical story. The most common
problem with romantic comedies is the use of similar ingredients, which
kills the earnestness of the story. However, the story of GTPM has been
framed keeping the casual feel intact but the film doesn't get flimsy at
any point.Kareena Kapoor is feisty as Dia. As a rule, Imran should only
work with Kareena. She makes the actor look good, more confident and
mostly act. Theirs is indeed an interesting on screen chemistry."
- Zee News gave the movie ,
writing "The film is funny in parts and keeps the interest intact right
from the word 'go'. The soundtrack of the film has an urbane and
romantic feel. The song 'Naina' sung by Neeti Mohan and Kamal Khan stand
out for its superbly classical tunes. Chances are you might enjoy it."
- Sneha May Francis didn't rate the film, however, she wrote "It's a
breezy watch, leaving us with a momentary, happy kick. It's much like
candyfloss – fluffy, sugary, pretty and pink. Kareena Kapoor Khan
breezes through as the feisty Dia Sharma, who picks any, and every,
issue to revolt against."
